Apache Camel: What is it?

Apache Camel's to() (not target()) defines the endpoint where a message is sent after processing. It's crucial for routing messages within your Camel routes.

What it does: to("endpoint") directs the message exchange to the specified endpoint. This endpoint can be a variety of things (e.g., JMS queue, file system, HTTP server, database).

Example (Spring Boot):

This route receives messages from direct:start, logs them, and sends them to the mock:result endpoint for testing. Replace mock:result with your actual endpoint (e.g., jms:queue:myQueue, file:output/, http://example.com).

Endpoint URI Syntax: Endpoints are specified using URI-like syntax. The syntax varies depending on the component used (e.g., jms, file, http). Consult the Camel component documentation for specifics.

Multiple Endpoints: You can chain to() calls to send to multiple endpoints sequentially:

Choosing the right component: Select the appropriate Camel component based on your integration needs (e.g., camel-jms, camel-http, camel-ftp). Spring Boot auto-configuration simplifies this greatly.
