Various topics covering in the final driving test

There are various topics the examiner will ask you to perform in the final driving test and you should know well aware about those prior to the test.

Lane changing

Lane changing is a mandatory subject in the exam you have to follow lane changing rules as learn from the driving instructor.

How to change lanes safely while driving

Lane changing is a driver moves his vehicle from one lane to another lane where both lanes have the same direction of travel.

When you are driving and you decided to change from one lane to another, first of all, you have to put your turn signal so it can help other drivers to know that you are intended to change the lane. Before you move over to the desired line it doesn't mean you have to move quickly, take your time to change the lane.

The first step is you have to check your mirror and look over your shoulder to check the blind spot which helps you to see the vehicles near you after you notice everything is clear and start changing lanes. while doing this another common mistake is when you try to change the lines you may stop accelerating this makes your vehicle slow down and other vehicles will try to overtake very fastly so you have to put your signal as soon as possible and also you have to maintain your speed while changing the lane.

Five important steps to change the lane

  • Turn on your turn signal
  • Check your rearview and side mirrors
  • Check your blind spot
  • Switch lanes
  • Turn off your signal

How to change the left lane

When you are trying to change to the left lane firstly, make sure that put your signal on and which helps other drivers to know that you are going to change to the left lane. The first step put on your left turn signal once you do this wait for three flashes check your left mirror and make sure there is no car, and also check your rearview mirror to check if someone tries to pass or change the lane, then do a shoulder check to make sure there are no cars on the blind spot after you notice everything is clear and start changing lane slowly and carefully. Once you have done this don't forget to turn the signal off.

How to change the right lane

Changing the right lane is basically the same method that we have discussed with the left lane changes. First of all, make sure that put your signal which is for other drivers to know that you are intended to change the right lane. After putting your right turn signal wait for three flashes and check your right mirror to ensure everything is clear then check your rearview mirror to whether someone going to pass or not. After that do a shoulder check to make sure that there are no cars in your blind spot. After you check everything start changing lanes slowly and carefully, and also don't forget to turn the signal off.

Things to remember

  • Before you change a lane you have to make sure that there is a clear gap in the traffic to move your vehicle to the other lane.

  • Give an appropriate signal before changing the lane to know other drivers that you are intended to change the lane.

  • Don't forget to turn the signal off after changing the lane.

  • When you are supposed to see a vehicle in the blind spot and they try to pass you and this time you should not change the lane at the moment. For instance,

  • When you are supposed to see a vehicle coming at the same speed from the right or left lane, in this case, you have to slow down a little bit to allow that vehicle to pass then speed up a little bit and make sure that other vehicle is far enough and have a clear gap to move your car.
